Okay thanks, I'll try that. One more question, when I do the repair install, will my key I used for the first upgrade still work?

Backup/Remove everything in that folder except the AERO Folder, AERO theme, lanscapes, characters, architecture, nature, scenes

Reboot and see if things are fixed

Sorry for not getting back sooner...

Go ahead and perfrom the repair install. If that doesn't work than the only thing would be to do the clean install

Backup your data first. The repair install won't get rid of your data BUT something could happen. If the repair install doesn't work than a clean install will be necessary; in that case you will need backup your data as that will wipe the HD

sorry to bump this old thread but im now having this problem and google led me here, but before i had windows 7 themes working and i clicked on high contrast when i wasnt paying attention and now it is stuck on classic, i had UXtheme patcher installed but when i try to remove UX Core Beta, it asks for a disc, and i fear i may have to do a clean install, although i messed around and edited explorer with reshack for my orb, so im pretty much stuck, when i right click on start properties it doesnt even give me the chance to enable aero peak, i run the trouble shooter, says my DWM is disabled but it is and im not on a 7 aero theme but i am . any help would be much appreciated.

I would start with this SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker and then try a couple of those other fixes, Let us know how that turns out.
