Cannot use all the space on my desktop.

Hi, i just got a new PC and everyhting is running fine, one thing that isn't a big deal but is really bugging me is that i can't seem to use all the space on my desktop. i can place shortcuts to a point, and then the computer won't allow me to place them past that. almost as if there is an invisible border around my desktop that can't be used for shortcuts.

The black Boxes indicate the area in which i cannot place shortcuts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The space where an icon will not go seems to depend on your screen DPI setting. On 100% I had your issue. But on a custom setting of 110% the number of icons that will fit fill the screen top to bottom. But the right side area will still not fill, although the gadgets will go there as you can see.

    Try adjusting screen resolution?

On my machine I get the same problem if screen resolution is set too low. Right click blank area on desktop and see if you can find an option to change screen resolution. I've posted a few screenshots showing icons positioned to the right of the screen as near to the edge as possible using the correct screen resolution and also a reduced screen resolution.
