Classic Shell Is exactly what you are looking for, it beats paid alternatives by a long shot.
Check there often, they seem update it frequently.

Another convert to Classic Shell, it performs exactly the same as Classic Menu in Vista.
You certainly don't need a paid for classic menu when Classic Shell works perfectly.
That's sorted my last remaining gripe with Windows 7.
Classic shell is fine but not perfect. Win 7 UI is simply a console gamer UI. Classic menus is by far a more efficient and faster UI than the new one. MS it seems, tried to make an OS that is a Mac OS look alike. Don't get me wrong; Win7 is very stable and fast. It has many features that I like, but! Win 7 UI is so time consuming to use, and so illogical in its structure that I personally use win XP on another computer for all the serious work (3d cad progs etc) and have win 7 for games only.
It is not the developers fault; I am sure that it is the yuppy suits at MS that demanded a Mac style OS and disregarded functionality totally. The poor programmers must have hated their job! All the IT managers and technicians I know hate this new UI. It is console gamer kids who like it simply because they use their PCs only for Facebook, Games, and Utube (nothing wrong with that I do too). Most people who hate the new UI do not post in forums. MS wanted so desperately to disassociate Win7 with the failed Vista that they went the way of the Mac.
Maybe I just missed something in the reading, but.....
I have the same classic start menu as I do in XP and I did it without any 3rd party software. It's all in windows 7 (Ultimate 64)
Well, it's classic enough for me. I think I started out with the "Classic" theme.
Just getting the "Run" prompt in Win-7 is a chore in itself, but doable.
I don't believe that, unless you greatly stretch the meaning of "same" or "without".
I've been a professional tech for 46 years. I take it very seriously.
I don't joke about computers and I don't troll.
I provided a picture of my Windows 7 Start Menu with Programs opened.
Take it or leave it. I don't really care.
Well, I can't be certain from this screenshot, but it looks suspiciously like Classic Shell. The fonts are the same, and the blue gradient for the caption is the same.
Check out the Settings menu. If there is a "Classic Start Menu" at the bottom, with an icon very similar to my user picture here, then it is definitely Classic Shell. Another thing to check is if you have a "Classic Shell" entry in your Programs and Features.
I am not accusing you of joking or trolling, but it is possible you have a 3rd party software installed without realizing it.
I hate the Windows 7 Start Menu, which does not have a Classic mode.
I have finally bit the bullet, and 'installed' -
Classic Windows Start Menu
WHICH IS FREE (and just does the one thing)
Core Affinity Resident
It does not 'Install' like you would expect.
It just quietly replaced the Start Menu, with it's own.
Don't panic, as one of the menu items is a Toggle to the original (pretty cool).
It is very configurable, and 'IT IS A KEEPER'
Sorry this is an old thread but its relevant.
There is Classic Shell which will show the Classic Start Menu on Windows 7, its free. The only problem is its an app that runs all the time.
This has been talked about a while ago. Classic Shell
