    How do I restore default thumbnail preview feature for ico file types?

    What is the name/location of the default ico file type icon?
    Or, how do I restore the default ico file type icon?
    I have tried "Default File Type Associations - Restore" for ico and had no success.

    I used a utility called "FileTypesMan" to customize several icons on my win7 x64.

    (Description

    FileTypesMan is an alternative to the 'File Types' tab in the 'Folder Options' of Windows. It displays the list of all file extensions and types registered on your computer. For each file type, the following information is displayed: Type Name, Description, MIME Type, Perceived Type, Flags, Browser Flags, and more.
    FileTypesMan also allows you to easily edit the properties and flags of each file type, as well as it allows you to add, edit, and remove actions in a file type.
    )

    I've changed several default windows icons to custom icons for all my media file types. (JPEG, WMV, GIF, PNG, ICO, MP4, MP3, WAV, etc.) In so doing, I've retained the thumbnail preview feature for all file types except ico. Now, instead of displaying a thumbnail preview of what each unique/specific ico file image is, I have a thumbnail of the custom ico icon I selected, for all ico files. How can I restore the default ico file type icon, in order to restore the thumbnail preview feature to ico files?

    I think that if I know the name or location of the default ico icon, I can browse for it in the FileTypesMan utility and replace the custom ico icon, restoring the thumbnail preview feature.

    "Default File Type Associations - Restore" did the trick. The restoration just hadn't kicked in until after I restarted my computer.
