Does anyone else use IFTTT?
Here is a thought: Does anyone else use IFTTT? (If This Then That) I cannot for the life of me figure out a recipe to change my desktop wallpaper. I can change on my tablet and phone....
The photos and art that come up on my phone and tablet are AMAZING and beautiful to say the least. If we could figure out a recipe for IFTTT to change the desktop wallpaper, we could point the recipe to the wallpaper threads here and rotate through those as well.
Right now I have photos from a few places on Reddit drop into a folder on my local computer, then just have a slideshow from that folder. Roundabout way, and I would like the desktop to change immediately...

What do you mean exactly? The slideshow has a timer setting from 10 seconds to 1 day.

On my phone and tablet, the wallpaper changes as soon as there is a new popular photo at 500px from any category.
On my desktop, I can have IFTTT grab it and throw it in my dropbox, but not locally. Even if I could get the wallpaper local, the Windows slideshow function needs to pick pre-existing wallpapers, and doesn't automatically add new photos that are dropped in the directory the slideshow uses for its source.
I would like to be able to change the wallpaper the same way it does on my devices. I think a desktop channel would need to be created somehow...
MODS: Can this line of conversation be split into its own thread so I am not going off topic?

Thanks, no need to move anything. Now that you've explained your goal maybe someone may know how to do what you want.
I've seen IFTTT only for iOS and Android but maybe the developers are working on a Windows version.
I'll put in a request for help.

I'm not at all familiar with if this then that, but you can have RSS powered backgrounds in Windows 7
RSS-fed dynamic themes - Microsoft Windows
It may not answer your question, but perhaps a clue for you?
You must apparently use one of their existing channels

Which would seem to limit your choices (I do see there is a OneNote Channel)? I cannot see if this is an app? Works on Windows 7? Etc. It may be too specific for our forum unless you happen upon a prolific user here. A Guy
