Windows 7: Windows Explorer navigation pane background colour changing

It worked!

I was desparate enough to try UxStyle, and I believe that fixed it. The 'mix' I talked about in post #9 vanished, i.e. the taskbar and Explorer 'turned Aero' again... and the Explorer navigation pane now no longer has that eye-crippling white colour! At last...

However, I did this by altering the default Aero theme. Making a copy of it as you explained in post #6 (steps 1-5) didn't work out well. The taskbar and Explorer still looked like the Classic theme, while the Aero theme was already working fine. No big problem though. I still have the original files, so should I ever want white backgrounds again I'll just overwrite stuff.

Anyway, thank you VERY much for your explanations and patience, kon!

Windows 7 Explorer Navigation pane Question
I am wanting to to the folders into links like in XP so that by clicking the name of the folder it will expand.
