How do I display file paths when using Photos as a screen saver

I have just changed from XP where I used random photos as my screensaver and I had the option to show the file path which was an effective caption. With photos going back many years it was always enjoyable as the photos brought back memories. I am now using Photos as my screensaver in Windows 7 but I can't find any way to show file path / captions. Can anybody help please?

Welcome to Seven Forums romper. It can't be done natively in 7, but if you still have your XP PC, people report success in copying ssmypics.scr from their XP machine to the Window 7 C:\windows\System32 directory. Open the Screen Saver Settings window and select the My Pictures Slideshow option, and voilą!

There's a clean download in the 2nd post on this thread (nice instructions too, wish I'd have looked for that first )

    screen saver display the filename

    Scanned clean with Virus Total

Please bear with me. I'm a comparative novice but I'm getting there.

I've downloaded the ssmypics file and it's now sitting in the Windows\SysWOW64 folder. So far so good.

Ive beeen to Windows 7 control panel, "appearance and presonalisation", then "change screensaver" The display is as it was previously. I note the file was for Windows 8, so perhaps it doesn't work for Windows 7, or it could be that I'm missing something and doing something wrong. Any ideas please.

It's not specific for 8, it's an XP file. Did you:

Right Click the file and select Properties.

    Click the Unblock button.

? I don't have any screensavers on my system. I'm just relaying info. Sounds easy if you follow the steps.

If you have unblocked the file (I don't see the block item myself, perhaps due to my security settings, but I have never seen it in other instances as well), then perhaps put the file in both System32 and SysWOW? Have you rebooted after?

It was me being an idiot. I didn't scroll down the options to select "my pictures slideshow" - I had assumed that was what I was in. I see what's happened - the file which was on my XP PC is now in my 7 PC so that I have the same facility I had previously. Thanks for all your help and patience - it's appreciated.
