Dock Icons First post! So if this is breaking any type or rules, please move it to the correct section or just delete it entirely.
I've been clicking around and searching my tail off all morning trying to find out how to install custom dock icons. Can anyone here help me out? I am trying to use the icons located here: Token by ~brsev on deviantART
If anyone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit |

I don't know which dock you are referring to. I use either RocketDock or ObjectDock and I simply copy the icons to the respective folders in the program's icon folder. I can then use them. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number MSI OS Windows 7 Professional 64bit CPU Intel Celeron 2.4 GH Memory 4 GB Graphics Card NVidia GeForce 9800GT Sound Card ATI HDMI Audio Monitor(s) Displays Acer S231HL Dual Monitors Keyboard Logitech wireless Mouse Logitech wireless Cooling Standard Hard Drives Hitachi 300GB ATA

Hey my friend, like roban said dont know what dock but if its Rocketdock then put/copy the icons folder into for example "c:\Program Files (x86)\RocketDock\Icons\" that folder. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Acer Extensa 5220 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel(R) Celeron(R) 530 @ 1.73 ghz Memory 3GB DDR2 Graphics Card Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Laptop Screen Resolution 1280x800 Hard Drives ST9808111AS ATA Device - 74.4GB Internet Speed mobile broadband 7.2mbits |

If you are talking about the native Windows 7 taskbar - to change the icons for these...
right click on the icon on the taskbar and then you should see an entry for the program right click on this and select "Properties"
In the properties dialog there will be an entry to "Change Icon" from here you can navigate to the icon you wish to use - Note this must be an .ICO format file (included in the DA set you list, but not all sets) | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Real World Computing (Me + a little help from Acer) OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 + x86 + Windows 8 x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1035T 2.6 GHz Motherboard Aspire M3400 Memory 4Gb PC10600 DDR3 1333 MHz Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 315 512MB Sound Card OnBoard - Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Philips 32" HDTV, (HDMI) + 26" TV (VGA) Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @60Hz + 1360 x 768 @60Hz Keyboard Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) Mouse Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) PSU Stock (400W) Case Acer M3400 Cooling Stock Hard Drives 500 GB Seagate ST3500418AS SATA II

I've tried to change both my Firefox icon and Windows Live Mail icons that I've pinned to Windows 7 taskbar.
The .exe icon does indeed change (you can see it in the dialog box) but the icon on the taskbar remains the same.
(And yes, I was using true .ico files.)
I'd really like to find a hack for this. I'd really like to use the Windows 7 taskbar, but I'd also like to use custom icons. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 CPU Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz 2.40 GHz Memory 6.00 GB Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT Monitor(s) Displays Sceptre 22" Widescreen Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 |

If you are getting the change for the .EXE file but the taskbar shortcut is not changing you could try unpinning and then pinning again from the changed .EXE. This may be some form of cache causing this - I did notice when I tried this it would sometimes take a re-boot or so to get the new icon to show up | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Real World Computing (Me + a little help from Acer) OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 + x86 + Windows 8 x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1035T 2.6 GHz Motherboard Aspire M3400 Memory 4Gb PC10600 DDR3 1333 MHz Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 315 512MB Sound Card OnBoard - Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Philips 32" HDTV, (HDMI) + 26" TV (VGA) Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @60Hz + 1360 x 768 @60Hz Keyboard Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) Mouse Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) PSU Stock (400W) Case Acer M3400 Cooling Stock Hard Drives 500 GB Seagate ST3500418AS SATA II

Ahhh! I can't believe it was so simple, I was looking for like a full blown tutorial telling me to go backup my explorer.exe and go into the registry and blahblah download this program and do this and what not. Thanks Barman, and all the others who replied. By the way, Soupie, what I did was unpin the program from my taskbar, changed the icon the way that Barman said, and then re-pinned the program back, and it worked! | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit |

One other tip I forgot to add was that for certain programs such as Microsoft office that do not have the standard type of shortcut, (shortcut is not editable), simply create a manual shortcut, change the icon and pin the shortcut to the taskbar | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Real World Computing (Me + a little help from Acer) OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 + x86 + Windows 8 x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1035T 2.6 GHz Motherboard Aspire M3400 Memory 4Gb PC10600 DDR3 1333 MHz Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 315 512MB Sound Card OnBoard - Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Philips 32" HDTV, (HDMI) + 26" TV (VGA) Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @60Hz + 1360 x 768 @60Hz Keyboard Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) Mouse Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) PSU Stock (400W) Case Acer M3400 Cooling Stock Hard Drives 500 GB Seagate ST3500418AS SATA II

Barman, how would I do this? I just ran into that problem right now with iTunes, and the "Change Icon" button is grayed out and I cannot click it. How do I get around this? | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit |

You need to find the actual itunes.exe program file in the program files area - not sure of the actual name by the way - right click on the .rxe and select create shortcut - choose to create on the desktop when prompted.
When created you should be able to right click on your new shortcut and select change icon.
No iTunes here so cannot confirm all aspects of this | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Real World Computing (Me + a little help from Acer) OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 + x86 + Windows 8 x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1035T 2.6 GHz Motherboard Aspire M3400 Memory 4Gb PC10600 DDR3 1333 MHz Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 315 512MB Sound Card OnBoard - Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Philips 32" HDTV, (HDMI) + 26" TV (VGA) Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @60Hz + 1360 x 768 @60Hz Keyboard Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) Mouse Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) PSU Stock (400W) Case Acer M3400 Cooling Stock Hard Drives 500 GB Seagate ST3500418AS SATA II
