In Win Explorer, double click now opens SAVE AS dialog

Always in the past, with every flavor of Windows, when I double clicked on a filename in Windows Explorer, it opened it in the default app or one chosen by me via file association. Now, I get a Save As window. I now have to right click and select Open from the menu to open.

Something changed, and I did not do it, unless by unknown accident. How do I get back to the open on double click functionality?

Tweaking.com's Windows Repair (All in One) might be all you need; accept defaults, maybe add #s 26 & 27. Allow it to make both system restore point & registry backup just before doing repairs.

    Hi,
Have you tried system restore to an earlier time ?
It's either that or there are plenty of auto reg file type fixes here try the lnk type fix,
