In Explorer? Right click desktop/personalize/window color/advanced appearance settings/Voila!

yeah that's the standard route I've used many times, but it doesn't change the background color for open/save dialogue,, and it also won't change explorer window background color (unless I switch to a theme other than the default)
anyone have a suggestion here?

This only works if you change your theme to windows 7 "basic" but is there a way to get background of explorer/dialogue windows to change with the regular theme?
