    Pinned items to the right...

    Hi all,

I was wondering if there is a way to get the pinned items to sit to the right side of the taskbar, where the quick launch would be...

In my case I've setup a few for 7stacks, but would prefer them over to the right...

Also I've got the rest of the taskbar set out like Vista, would my open windows be able to stay over to the left?

Basically I want the 7stacks pinned items to be where the quick launch used to be, and the rest as Vista...

    Thanks

    Hello Arran,

I suppose that you could unlock the taskbar, drag the 7stacks icon to the right using the dotted lines (if available), and leave the pinned items on the left side. Newly open programs and windows will open to the right end of the pinned items, so be sure to leave enough room between that and the notification area icons.

    Hope this helps,

Hmm I couldn't for some reason get the dotted lines to come up unless I had another toolbar in place, and even then the left set of lines wouldn't move...

Anyway that then gave me an idea... Why not create my own toolbar a la Quick Launch only pointing at a folder with my 7stacks shortcuts in...

Works nicely for me, still means i'm shying away from the new Windows 7 taskbar.. Which I feel a bit guilty about as I feel I should be getting to know it, getting to love it

    Thanks for your help Shawn...

You're welcome Arran. I wouldn't feel guilty one bit. Use the way you like it. :)

    Haha,

This small episode has got me thinking...
Wouldn't it be nice if you could actually segment up your taskbar... So you could have different sections, but different sections that would all accomodate pinned items...

Because obviously the way I've done it, if I set the taskbar to the larger icon size the ones in my quick launch style bar remain small... Small price to pay I suppose...

You might play around with this to see how you like it as well. Instead of a folder icon, you can use any icon. Also look at the related links for some ideas as well.
