Increasing Max Height of Start Menu by GPEdit/Regedit

hi, have increased my Start Menu Size by setting 'Number of recent programs to display' to 30, but it's not enough. is it possible to increase the max height of the start menu by using gpedit.msc and/or regedit; i do not want to install a utility or alternate start menu/custom interface to achieve this.

if i can't directly increase the Start Menu Size, could i hack the max. number of recent programs to over 30?

Are you saying you maxed out your start menu and your taskbar ?

no in start menu/taskbar properties i set 'Number of recent programs to display' to 30, then unchecked the Privacy boxes, to increase the start menu window size. but it's still not high enough. i want the edge of the start menu to hit all the way to the top

I don't think there is an option in group policy for that specific task,

Group Policy Settings for Start Menu and Taskbar

Just out of curiosity I set mine to 30 on my laptop and it reached the top,

So I would guess it's more of a resolution thing, that's only 1440x900.

    What size is your screen?

hi, my resultant menu screen is the same as yours. at the time i started this thread, i did not realise it was the user pic/frame for aero that was causing that gap at the top. so i guess i don't really need to heighten the panel anymore.

anyway i am deciding now to remove the user picture and frame altogether. i'll try out some instructions on the site if they are not too complex. i downloaded this tool called Windows 7 Start Menu User Picture Remover, but it didn't work for me. lol in fact my theme immediately reverted back to basic aero after running the exe.

thanks all the same for your response
