There are a few things MS seem to be missing the point on in Windows 7. One is the ability to quickly stick a note on the desktop by right-clicking and going to "New->Sticky Note". I remember adding something to the "New" menu in XP some time back so I'm wondering if there's a way to do this.

I drag my Stickies, Calculator and Snip tool from Start menu down to the task bar where they are one click away.

Actually I keep an open sticky on my desktop for jotting notes. Love how they expand as necessary when typing. Stable as can be (all the gadgets are). Just don't uncheck them in msconfig if you are finicky about free riders at startup.

anyone ever figure this out? Im trying to do this exact same thing. Right Click New Sticky on Desktop.

Well after playing some I found this way to do it. Not perfect but a start i just need some help "Moving" the registry file to the right location now :)

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shell\New StickyNote]
"Icon"="C:\\Windows\\System32\\StikyNot.exe"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shell\New StickyNote\command]
@="C:\\Windows\\System32\\StikyNot.exe"

This will add a menu for New StickyNote and it works.. However I would really like to move it into the New Submenu that ships with windows 7.

Anyone know a way to get it in there?

For those who cant type I added a registry add and remove file for this as well.. Enjoy..

and remove
