Can you give more information on the actual problem - is the icon missing from the shortcut or the .exe file or is the actual shortcut or .exe file missing?

Right click on the shortcut, select properties - there should be a change icon button - this should show a selection of icons available in the executable - if not select browse and navigate to C:\Windows\system32\paint.exe and select the icon you want

Yep the search engine from start sucks. I was looking for Paint for ages there and couldn't find it. Tried also searching in explorer. In the end I had to google 'where is Paint windows 7' and found this thread. Needed to search for mspaint... that's just...
