I don't believe that's possible. Windows 7 (unlike Vista and before) uses an undocumented control in Explorer. Without access to the Windows source code it would be very difficult.

Just registered so I could say thanks for this program.
    So ... Thank You !
I was hesitant about installing it, I saw no mention of a uninstaller and I thought I should give the default start menu a chance. Well, I did and finally installed you program. It runs great, if that is the right word, as it replaced that horrid start menu with the Classic. It does have an uninstaller but I don't believe I will need it.
    Great Job and Thanks again.

Well, there is no separate uninstaller. You can uninstall the application 2 ways:
    1) Run the setup exe again and it will offer an option to remove it
    2) Find ClassicShell in "Programs and Features" and uninstall from there

Log off or reboot is recommended after the uninstall.

Ivo, you are the man! In the last year of using Windows 7 beta, RC and now the final product, I have grown to hate the new menu system. And I am tired of being told to "accept it and move on". Thanks to you I don't have to. Have you given any thought to applying your magic to any other areas of Windows 7?

hi, I haven't installed it yet but is there an option to just use part of it? for now I'm only interested in the add explorer buttons option (cut, paste, delete, properties, etc.). See how that looks and works and then maybe use some of the other features of your great program. Just curious if I could do that. Thanks!

During installation there is an option to install the start menu or the Explorer features. You can un-check the start menu from there and you'll only get the Explorer features: the toolbar, the status bar, the copy UI, the navigation pane features. The toolbar has a "Settings" button and from there you can enable/disable each feature.

It might be something related to permissions. Check out this thread: SourceForge.net: Classic Shell: Topic: Unable to install

thnx for the reply. I read the sourceforge forum's post and verified that I am indeed logged on as admin. System user has full write permissions too. new machine and I'm the only account right now. I even created the Temp folder since you indicated that the installer writes (or uses it) to it. not having any other problems installing other msi programs.
Still get the same error code. One thing that *may* be different is that I just check the install classic explorer part only. not sure if anyone has installed only that or if that would make a difference for the installer to do it's thing.
    any other suggestions? thnx!

First thing you can try is to install both parts. It is unlikely the cause of the problem but at least we can eliminate that for sure.

The second thing is a bit more complicated:
    1) Run the setup again, but don't click on anything
    2) Open your temp folder (for example press Win+R and type %temp%)
    3) Locate a file starting with CSH (it will have a random name, something like CSH63FF.tmp)
    4) Copy this file to another location and rename it to installer.msi
    5) Close the setup from step 1
    6) From the command line run msiexec /i installer.msi /l* installer.log

After it fails, examine the installer.log file for any errors. If you find the cause of the error please post it here.
