Missing Desktop Icons Wasn't this way when I turned my computer off earlier. Anyone know why this might happen?

Windows 7 Desktop icons missing Hi I tried the fix below (deleting the icon cache but it didnt work) do you have any ideas? It might be because I removed some sony vaio applications as they were using too much memory , I tried the system restore but that didnt work either

Frustrated of Melton Mowbray Hi Sasman
It will also depend on your choice of icon view.
As a matter of course, whenever I change icons I delete the icon cache (as you have) and I also run the Disk Cleanup facility (R-click drive icon, select Properties), making sure that the thumbnails option is ticked for cleaning and then re-boot. Usually does the trick.
