    Remove / Change Default Background

    Hello,

I can't find the registry key to change or remove the default wallpaper windows applies to a new user loggin on (the windows 7 wallpaper or in our case, a Dell wallpaper).

I want to remove the wallpaper and just edit the background color.

Anyone found out where this setting is hiding?

    Best Regards

    It can be found here.
Watch the video,he gives the long path.
I just found a link to a program,on that page in comments, that changes the background without doing any shrinking of the picture on your part. It does it automaticly, but you don't need that program if you aren't changing logon picture.
The path takes you to the default logon folder.

The Aero.theme file dictates the wallpaper or colour to use and can be replaced by your own custom setting.

First you will need to set your wallpaper or colour, screen saver and sounds the way you want then save as a new theme by right clicking on the unsaved theme, select save and name the theme Aero.

Now you need to go to the directory where you saved the new Aero theme which you will find in C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes, now copy the Aero.theme you created and then you need to paste it in the main theme folder in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes and tell it to overwrite the existing theme.

Now go to your personalization menu and the new Aero theme should have replaced the default and will also be the default for all new users.

This has not been tested but I beleive it should work but best to make a copy of the original Aero.theme and also create a restore point before you do anything.

I think he wants to change the default wallpaper not the log on screen, I could be wrong though.

If you just want to change the wallpaper you do that in Personalize.

First you will need to set your wallpaper or colour, screen saver and sounds the way you want then save as a new theme by right clicking on the unsaved theme, select save and name the theme Aero.

Yes that is correct but he wants this to happen by default whenever a new user is created and that's why I gave him the solution to be able to do so.
