Windows Media Player + permissions help?

    EDIT

    Now solved

Hi all, well i now know how to add a custom image to my media player 12 background

I also replaced the wmploc.dll file successfully after adding my image.

But today i changed the image but tried to copy and replace the wmploc.dll file in system32 but it won't copy over now, keeps saying denied and i need permission. no matter what i try to take ownership and permissions i can't get it to copy and replace my old wmploc.dll file in system32.

Please help me figure this out, im pulling my hair out here

    Hello again Andrew :)

So, you successfully changed it yesterday, correct?
Today, you try and assign a new image to wmploc, dll and you are getting a permissions error, correct?

Do you have an unmodified copy somewhere safe?

If so, just use Restorator to assign the new image and save it.

Yes correct, i tried taking ownership and setting full permissions i think i have done it correct but it still fails to replace my old wmploc.dll file.

i don't understand how yesterday i had permission now today i can't overwrite it.

Stop trying to save a new version of wmploc.dll and just overwrite the current file.........

Can you post a screenshot of wmploc.dll ACL?

Temporarily disable UAC and try again. That error you posted above says that it cannot create and save the backup wmploc.dll Restorator makes. (wmploc1.dll)

Did you reboot after disabling UAC?

It is something simple, i've had issues with wmploc and Restorator before and it was something silly (like disabling UAC)

Delete all of the modified versions of wmploc.dll and replace them with your backup copy. Make another unmodified copy of wmploc.dll to the desktop.
Make sure the ownership of system32\wmploc.dll is set to you & permissions are set to full control for your username. Proceed as yesterday.
