In win7 the links on the start menu by default for things like pictures - actually point to the libraries rather than the respective user folders as in vista.

So in a way the libraries are there but not as a single entry

May i ask if your Library's shortcut is on the start menu left or right pane?
If it is on the right pane....guess you're getting old.....

Maybe you would like to try this: ( serve the same purpose )

Double click your computer, on the left pane drag and drop the Library Folder into the start orb.
It will be pin to the left pane of the start menu

Hope you don't mind if i switch your Library shortcut from the right to the left side.

It is also possible to rename and point the Downloads entry in the start menu to a different library or folder. Which can be useful if you have a particular way of working and have created your own library

Thanks for your help folks, I do have the library shortcut on the task bar now, if you do see a desktop with the library shortcut on the dark side of the start menu please let me be the first to know, I can then be reassured that I wasn't seeing things.

    Best Regards Carl
