    Changing the login UI

I have a few things I want to do to the login UI, but not the simple background change. I've already got that figured out. What I want to know is how to

    a) Remove all text, including the user name from the screen(I've removed the win7 logo at the bottom already)

    b) Remove the user icon from the login screen, and the box that surrounds the user icon

    c) Move the position of the password box to the bottom right corner of the screen

    d) Remove the login button(the circle with the arrow that you press after entering the password) or move it with the password box to the bottom right because I can just press [enter] after typing my password

    e) Move the switch user button to the bottom of the screen

I don't need specific instructions, but if anyone can figure out what dll or registry values and such control these things, I can figure the rest out on my own.

    Pretty complicated, isn't it?

    [Edit]

Bulldog7 has pointed me to the dll I was looking for... Now that I have extracted resources from the dll, and deleted a few, I am now looking at the login ui code... I can't understand it for crap, so if anyone is interested, I can send you the code I found or tell you how to extract it yourself.

    [edit]

Gah! so complicated!!! You may not hear from me for a while... It's not like I'll be spending more than an hour or two a day on this, and as you can tell, it's complicated, and looking at all this text is making me sleepy at 2am, so I may have to quit for the night.

The best way I know of is via a 3rd party program such as Stardock LogonStudio.

Please do report back if you found a way to move password box position..it might help someone who are interested in this thread down the line.

Ahh... Perfect, I have found the images for the login button and the box around the picture in that dll... removing the picture should be as simple as a transparent png. That should deal with b and d... obviously the easiest ones. I'll edit this to give details later.

    [edit]

OK, I'm looking through the dll, deleting some resources here, some there, and looking through ui scripts to see if I can figure out what any of it means. So far this looks promising, but I'm going to have to get an extra hard drive for myself before I am willing to test my dll hack.

You need to edit the UIFILES, you cant use a 100% transparent image because you can STILL click on the area where it used to be. Its just invisible, not disabled.

Moving things will require editing the uifiles. Its been a couple of years since I even peeked at the uifiles so I cant give you exact locations.

Do a google search for a user named "dejco" and "authui" and you will find that he documents a lot to do with what your asking.

    Good luck.

I've gotten most of it. Just need to move the password box and remove the user name.

Would you be so kind as to post how you got to that stage? That is exactly how I would like mine to look.
