Is it Win7 or XP Classic?

Hee hee!

Been running Windows 7 about three weeks now. I'm proud to say my obsessive effort to make it look like XP running Classic options is nearly complete! The icing on the cake was Ivo Beltchev's fabulous Classic Shell program:

CodeProject: Classic Shell. Free source code and programming help

Have a look at my desktop now!

Now, mind you, I would be willing to experiment with Aero. But, even though I've looked at the tutorial here, I can't get the background in Windows Explorer windows to be anything but harsh, glaring, blinding white - too painful for my aged eyes.

The only problem I had was withthe Recent Documents - always seems blank:

But, Ivo quickly helped - my Task Bar props was set to not track Recent!

(I swear I never changed it - could this be the default?!?)

Thanks, Ivo!

Why not just run Windows XP instead of going though all this trouble? o.O

Congrats on getting it the way that you want it...however I truly feel that the new start menus and interfaces are a step in the right direction and the old look is just...old!

heh .. well, I do dual-boot.

Seriously, I find the classic shell more productive - less clicking and scrolling. IMHO, the W2K look and feel was the Zenith of Windows Design.

And I would like to see if I like Aero themes - still can't figure out how to get rid of the blinding white backgrounds in Windows Explorer.

You might as well change the recycle bin, my computer, etc. icons back to the XP ones...

There's props, and then there's nega-props. You get nega-props for that theme!
