Windows 7: Icon Name Length

Icon Name Length

Does anyone know how to set a folder (the desktop in this case) to show the full name for all files at all times when in icon mode? There appears to be a maximum of 8 to 10 characters per line that is shown under icons unless you click it.

The other threads I have searched recommend changing the icon spacing. Although this can cause more characters to show, it doesn't really address the problem as you have to set extreme spacing to make much of a difference, and even then it still shortens the name.

When I click on the icons to display the full name it is clear that there is plenty of room to display them. I believe I set this in XP by using TweakUI or something, but I don't see a similar option in the Ultimate Windows Tweaker.

Any thoughts?
