I've not tried this, but doesn't the thumbnail image of vids work by capturing the first frame of the video only? (video tech guys?)

If this is the case and I'm correct then the first frame would need editing to your desired pic (which means you need some good sturdy Video editing software), but I'm no expert at video unfortunatly, I'm more of a mere audio guy...

If you try taking this on as a personnal mission then don't forget to clear the Windows thumbnail caches upon each try. (disk-cleanup has the option for thumbnails..)

No, it's not the first frame...depending on the video, mine can be within the first minute or 10 minutes. I have noticed it is very inconsistent. On my external drive it tends to be further into the video, whereas on my computer it tends to be the beginning.

I haven't seen anything for modifying this, but I'm sure someone will know! Just be patient.

Is there a way to change thumbnails of videos?
I have a lot of TV shows and movies, and I would like to change their thumbnails to something else. Most of the times the thumbnail is of the first frame of the video. A lot of times this is just a black screen... Is there any possible way of changing the video thumbnails? Thanks.
