Remove shiny stripes on Win 7 taskbar

Just found out how to get rid of the shiny stripe effect on the taskbar which i think personally are ugly and doesn’t add any kind of 3 dimensional effect to the bar. if you like a minimal desktop and want to remove the stripes open regedit and navigate to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER|Software\microsoft\Windows\DWM and double ckick on ColorizationGlassReflectionIntensity and change the value to something lower, I use 1 close regedit and log off and back on to take effect.

Won't that change it for ALL windows, not just the taskbar?

I’ve never noticed it on other windows, just the taskbar. It’s not affected the transparency. Try it if you dont like it just change the value back to what it was originally.

    Wow, thanks!

I set to "16" and really like it. Subtle but very nice.

In theory, a very large value indeed! I don't notice any significant change visually between 255 and 65025 however so if you're going to experiment I would stick with 0 - 255 as your range.

Brilliant! This is a particularly ugly effect in a vertical taskbar and I've got changing the pattern amongst my vast pile of 'round2its' but this will certainly ameliorate the horror in the meantime!
