How to start explorer in D

Is there a way to totally ignore 'library' and 'favorites' when I open windows explorer?

I mean...
When I open windows explorer, it defaults in 'library'

it also shows 'favorites'.

- I don't want either of those to show at all.
- I also would like my default starting location at D:/

Oh by the way, I use 7 home premium

Hello DeNu7Generation, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You can use the tutorial below to change the defalt target path to D: instead for this.

Windows Explorer Taskbar Icon - Change Open To Target

These will help show you how to remove Libraries and Favorites.

Favorites - Add or Remove from Navigation Pane

and

Libraries Folder - Add or Remove from Navigation Pane

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Thanks
all worked great.
- explorer opens in d:/
- I don't see a big 'favorites' anymore
- I don't see a big 'libraries' anymore

still I have one more problem.

In explorer, on the top half, I still see my user name, expanded in several subfolder like "my Music", "my pictures"
etc.
(something I always hated about windows. I'd like to keep total control of where I store my files, especially when I have more than 1 drive, I'd like to keep none of my files on C: where I install windows and other programs.)

I'd like to totally remove the options like 'my music' and so...

Is this possible?
thank you

You're welcome.

This will allow you to remove the "User Folder" and it's group from the navigation pane as well. However, it will not remove it at the C:\Users location since it is a actual folder there. See the related links in the tutorial for other items that you can remove as well.

User Folder - Add or Remove from Navigation Pane

Hope this helps,

Ok I did this,

Bu when I restarted my computer, I saw my main user account was somehow set to default settings (lost all my desktop, browser settings, etc)
When I start explorer, I get an error message, that this is a temporary log on.

I created a new administrator, changed it back, but I still have this problem with my main account.
I've created another user account before, and this one still retained everything.

How is this possible?

addition:

I checked for my user profile to be corrupt.
I can create a new administrator, but this new account show the exact same problems. Can't access explorer...

help!!!

It sounds like you have a corrupted user account. See if this is the error message that you got. If so, then it may be able to help you fix that user account.

thank, but still it won't work.

- I've read and executed the procedure in the link you've provided.
- However it won't solve my problem
- Any new adminstrator user accounts will start in temporary user without explorer

now I've done a sytem restore, but my internet browser now won't show secured pages*. Maybe it doesn't have to do with with it, but this didn't occur before my problem

(* like hotmail sign in or my bank account)

You may need to do a clean reinstall of Windows 7 for this, but you might see if you get lucky with only doing a repair install.
