Instead, you can use this tutorial on how to pin a folder to the taskbar, and select the Microsoft Office folder with these shortcuts in it in the hidden Start Menu folder below:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

Just make the folder look like how the Quick Launch folder does instead with the shortcut icons instead of just a folder with the expansion arrows.

OK, i followed the tutorial, but which folder do i select? the one in Program Files (x86) or in the hidden start menu folder? because in the hidden one there is only Excel listed .
Wait a minute, I put 4 folders in the toolbar, and change the icon to whichever shortcut is in there? Ahh. Please correct if I am wrong, otherwise i will be clueless!

Ok i have put 4 folders in the microsoft office folder, each containing a copied app of the office suite. i pinned it using the toolbar method, but now when i try to run it, dll libraries and other stuff is missing. help!

Sorry, i must be confusing, that problem is sorted now and everything is how i wanted it to be :)
in the attached screenshot i just copied the contents of the file with the program settings into each pinned folder, which worked a treat, they will run with no problem now only thing is that there is expansion brackets next to each icon, which is fine!

You would want to select the "...Office...." folder in that path I posted above in bold instead of the entire Progam Files folder. That is not even in the same location that I posted above. LOL

I found my own way don't worry - I put a folder in my documents containing the folders that contain program shortcuts, i then put a new toolbar in for each program, right click then untick show title and show text to leave the shortcut icon there, then i go to view and make the icons bigger. everything is good, problem solved :)

Using 'blank' folders as separators is how I did it.

But now you have ugly arrows next to your icons :'(

Not now, because i only put shortcuts in the folders, not the actual copy of the program. There is only one file in each folder :)

I also put Windows Speech Recognition in there because it works great in Windows 7 (as you can see ), unlike my formatted Vista
