Remapping Windows Hotkeys

Hey guys, I was wondering if there is a way to remap the windows hotkeys or even disable them.

You see, I am wanting to use alt+tilde as a keybind in a game I play, but whenever I push it, it seems to be a keybind for Windows 7 that has to do with the taskbar.

Thanks for the help!

What is ATL + Tilde doing? I'm getting no reaction from it...

I think it show/hides the icons down on the bottom right of the taskbar.

For example, I have something downloading and whenever i press alt+tilde it hides it or shows it.

What are you using to download? Does ATL+Tilde only do something when you are downloading?

I'm confused too. alt+tilde does nothing for me either. Is this a laptop?

You say when you have something downloading this happens - that suggests to me a download manager or some program that is downloading in the background - that is probably where you should look first, rather than changing Windows defaults.
