Disable 'stacked buttons' effect on taskbar?

When you set taskbars buttons to 'Always combine, hide labels' in the right click->customize menu, and you have several instances of a program open, it makes a 'stack' effect for each additional instance. I personally find that effect quite ugly, though I do like the always combine option. Any way to disable it?

Here's an example on the Firefox and Skype icons:

Hi Pickaxe, and Welcome to the Seven Forums.

Not really sure about being able to change this unless it is done within the Registry. Personally I like it because at times I forget how many windows are open if there aren't on the desktop.
