| | Get Original Drive Icon back Hi all, I used the search function and found a lot about changing icons of folders. I could not find anything about how to get back the original icons. For some reason one external drive "lost" it's icon and you can see a placeholder only. I mean it is not the end of the world..... but almost  Any ideas? Thanks a lot |

| | You might try rebuilding the icon cache. C:\Users\username\AppData\Local. Delete IconCache.db. Reboot. This will cause the icon cache to be rebuilt. Hope this helps. Gary |

| | Thanks a lot. Unfortunately this did not do the trick. I read that desktop.ini on the external drive could cause an issue. Any more ideas. Thanks a lot. |

| | Hello Hanshanshans, You might be able to manually change the drive icon back to the default one using the tutorial below. Be sure to check for a "desktop.ini" file as described in the yellow TIP box in the tutorial first though. Drive Icon Change - Vista Forums Hope this helps, Shawn |
