That makes no sense. I have a life. I don't want to spend it hunting for apps to recreate features I once had.
I did. This was a new feature at one point. It made windows XP/Vista so much more enjoyable compared to previous versions of windows and very handy compared to my current mac. There's no reason to remove it.
Poked. Found nothing. Can't put the address bar at the top of the screen like I always could. I asked if there was any way to do it and no one gave me a good answer.Poke around and you'll find even better features for what you want to do.
Please elaborate which features are better for what I want to do.
I regret this Win7 omission too. But Rocket Dock that jav linked works pretty well for me. Once you get used to it, you will probably like it even better than the Vista toolbar/dock that I still use in Vista. It just needs a little getting used to.
You have to understand that Win7 is Vista for little old ladies. So they left out a lot of functions so that this audiance would not get confused - LOL.
The taskbars are handy for replacing the Quick Launch which they also axed. And I do not like the tweaked version of Quick Launch that some people propose.
The very first thing I did after logging onto my account when I first installed Windows 7, I dragged Computer to the top of the desktop. Nothing happened. I tried again and again, and all it did was put a shortcut on the desktop. I immediately googled and found this and another similar thread on this site.
I cannot find any reason why this feature would be omitted from Win7. Also, ArinA, I love how you replied to Sopolias Falst ridiculous post. Anywayz, I will be hunting for a work around to this. Will let you know if I find anything.

I suggest Rocket Dock. Works very well. It has similar settings as the Vista/XP docking facility.Poked. Found nothing. Can't put the address bar at the top of the screen like I always could. I asked if there was any way to do it and no one gave me a good answer.
Please elaborate which features are better for what I want to do.
desolator4u,
let me know if you figure it out. Maybe it's as simple as a registry hack!

Try true launch bar, there is a free version also, free launch bar.
I'm not the OP, but I'm yet another user (with a life, thank you) who would
love to hear what these "better features" are. Please elaborate.
BTW, I'm a software consultant, and I keep about 80 quick-launch icons for
utilities at the sides of the screen in XP and Vista. Last thing that I need in
the middle of trying to drill into low-level for debugging apps is the distraction
of navigating popup menus. How else would you do that?
It appears that Rocket Dock won't work with 64-bit OS's yet. Nexus Winstep supposedly does. I haven't tried it on my 64-bit machines yet, but the test install that I just loaded up looks pretty good. It will also host folders, which is a feature that's missing from some other launchers. Unfortunately, you have to mouse over a folder icon to show the name. If they enhanced that, I think it would be a great substitute for the older desktop toolbars.
That is correct - that's what it says on their download page.It appears that Rocket Dock won't work with 64-bit OS's yet.
