Windows 7: Adding a toolbar to the top of the screen????

Adding a toolbar to the top of the screen????

I just installed windows 7.

In vista, xp and windows 2000 I added a second tool bar to the top of the screen which had all my quick launch icons and an address bar for quick website entry.

In XP I could create a bar at the top of the screen by pulling the quick launch or address bar out of the task bar and then placing it at the top of the screen.

In vista I could create a bar at the top of the screen by dragging a folder to the top of the screen for a second.

Window 7 removed both of these methods. Can I get it back?

If not, this is a deal breaker and windows 7 is garbage.

Example Triple monitor setup with secondary toolbars at the top of the screen in vista:

Thank you.

Can you not just right click that taskbar and select the toolbar as stated here: How To Add and Remove Toolbars in Windows 7 - HowToInWindows.com

...then drag it to the top of the screen?

In XP doing this would allow me to drag the toolbar off the taskbar. Attempting to drag it off in windows 7 only results in it slideing left or right (wider or thinner) on the taskbar.

Are you sure the taskbar is unlocked?
I know selecting the edges of the taskbar (the dotted lines) adjust the width. You aren't clicking on the edge are you?

Taskbar is unlocked, which is why I can move the item (which in this case is an address bar) back and forth.

To clarify, I don't want to move the entire taskbar to the top of the screen.

When you right click on the taskbar you can add a "toolbar". I want to remove the "toolbar" and place it at the top of the screen like I could in XP and Vista.

Do you have window 7? Can you do it? If you can, can you take a photo of it so I know did it?

I have tried creating a new toolbar and tried dragging the new toolbar off the taskbar. Can't be done. I searched for this feature and I believe Microsoft took this out of Windows 7.

Unfortunately I think it has been removed

Maybe you can try one of those for your other monitors:
Stardock ObjectDock
About RocketDock - RocketDock.com
WinStep: Desktop Themes and Customizing Windows!
Circle Dock: Download Circle Dock

I know they aren't Windows native toolbars and you will had to install them, but it''s better then nothing.
