how to make list not move the window?

When I am looking at a folder with lots of items in it, I prefer to view using list mode. the problem I am having is that when I click on an item on the very right side column it zooms the window over so that item is now on the left. so when I try to double click something on the right side I end up scrolling way over. how can I make the window not scroll over when I click an item on the right side under list viewing option.

Odd. i use list view and when i click a file on the far right the view jumps just one column to the left, not all the way like yours. I have the folders set up as follows :right click in the folder sort by TYPE and ASCENDING click on more and all i have checked is NAME TYPE and SIZE. Try setting up your folders this way and see if they behave more like mine do. Not sure if this will have any effect really but worth a try.

Yeah, this existed in Vista also. I don't know of any way around it.
