Pinning website shortcuts to the taskbar

    Hi:
I'm trying to pin a Gmail shortcut and a few forums shortcuts to the taskbar, but I'm not having any luck doing this.
I'm able to pin programs to the taskbar without a problem though so I'm wondering if somebody can tell me how this can be done in Win 7 Ultimate.

It would show up if you right click the Internet Explorer icon

EDIT: The way to do this would simply be to save them as a favorite on the favorites bar and then drag them over the IE icon and drop them there

Instructions for Gmail shortcut pinnable to
    taskbar:

Right click desktop and highlight "new", then over to "shortcut"
To open Gmail in IE type in the location: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" https://mail.google.com/mail/#inbox
To open Gmail in Firefox type in the location: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" https://mail.google.com/mail/#inbox
    (the quotes are necessary)
Then assign it an icon and you can pin it to your taskbar. This will work for any internet address for your other shortcut needs.

Thanks, but that doesn't help me to put an icon on the taskbar the way I could do in XP.

Thanks, but I don't quite understand your instructions. Are you telling me to type in the following in the address bar of Internet Explorer, or are you telling me to right click on the Desktop>New>Shortcut and then type it in there? Either way this doesn't work for me.
    "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" https://mail.google.com/mail/#inbox

You create a new shortcut as descripbed. Then right click it and open the properties (if it's not open already after creating it), then you type in the above information into the "target" edit box.

What you are doing is creating a program shortcut to launch IE or FF and passing it the URL of the page you want to load.

    Found this solution on Youtube.

Open Chrome. Click on Apps in Browser Bar or Address Bar (ribbon at top of screen). This opens with set of
icons including M icon for Mail. Click on that - check Taskbar - click create.

Worked like a charm for me.

    nb to above.

I don`t like Google much but somehow ended up installing it and its collection of extras. It was worth it for this !
