never combine, hide labels. . .

In the taskbar control panel, is there any way to add the option to hide the labels (ie, in this case "Windows 7 Forums -..." but NOT to group 'similar' items, so each firefox window has it's own, non-overlapping button?

    Thanks as always!

Windows 7 does not have a "Never Combine, Hide Labels" option in the taskbar settings.

Here is how to make Windows 7 never group taskbar icons but also hide the labels:

    1. Go to your taskbar properties and set Taskbar Buttons to "Never Combine".

    2. Launch REGEDIT and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Desktop\WindowMetri cs (As always, make sure to back up your registry)

    3. Create a new String Value and call it MinWidth.

    4. Modify the string properties and set the value to 56.

    5. Restart your computer, and now Windows 7 will never combine icons, but it will also hide the labels.

With thanks to the folk at mydigitallife.

    Hope this helps.:)

Thank you so very much! Sometimes it's painful being so picky, but I know I can almost always count on the vista and 7 forums to ease my pain!

Ok, this is good, but is there a way to have this AND :

KEEP the "labels" in the AERO PREVIEW when Hovering just like when your're in "always combine , hide labels" (so that you can know which icons is which in cas you have a lot opened )

I've searched everywhere and didn't found a thing ... I can't believe I'm the only one who thinks this would be useful.

Problem with the solution is : you just change icon size but the "label" doesn't go back where it is supposed.

    thanks
