no admin priv in 7057 and no uac?

well i finally upgraded to 7057, disabled uac and went to set up the 'vista' 7 sidebar trick, i had it working great in 7000 but now when i try to copy the files over with uac disabled and i have my main account set up as administrator it is still saying i need admin privileges to perform this action? also i have set up the 'take ownership' tweak in 7000 and now when i right click and select take ownership it doesnt work.

could this have something to do with the fact i done an upgrade? will i need to re-apply the administrator account and 'take ownership' tweaks? (as i cannot remember where these threads were )

if there are already posts relating to this just let me know as i hunted around but got lost in the meantime. lol

    thnx for any info.

    regards,
    Rick

I think its because you upgrade installed rather than clean install. I had the same issue when I upgraded from 7022 to 7048 so decided to clean install 7057 which no issues so far.

yes i can use the sidebar but i wanted to use the 'vista' sidebar that i had in b7000, so i can have the gadgets on top so if something is maximized the gadgets have thier own area. but this is due to the administrator account i set up in b7000 not having full admin rights in 7057 due to the upgrade.

thnx for the take ownership link tho, i couldn't find it b4.

EDIT: excellent, the take ownership done the trick to copy the sidebar folders over!

still would be good if i could get the admin account to work how it should tho.

Hi,bloke, just as a matter of interest why don't you just turn on UAC for a couple of days, until you get set up,just a suggestion.

uac restricts what you can do with certain folders, which is what i was trying to figure out with uac already disabled and my account was administrator, but due to me choosing the upgrade option when i installed 7057 (so i wouldnt lose all my programs and games) it somehow had a affect on the admin account and now is the same as setting up a standard account eg: joe blob as the owner, instead of keeping it as administrator so i have full access to everything (which imo is how it should be). i just find this bizzare.
