    Strange bug with desktop background...

    Hi guys!

    Not too sure it this post should be in customization...

    Anyway, I'm having this strange bug with the background image in Windows 7.
    When in Personalization>>Desktop Background, it's possible to change everything as normal but the image position.
    It shows up all options, but no matter what you select, it always keep on the "extended" setting.

    If you choose another option, it doesn't change the background (when the "desktop background" window is still open).

    I've used the "windows easy transference" tool, and got my files from an old WinXP pro. Maybe some glitchy config messed it up?

    Did you do an upgrade or a clean install of Seven? Or is this a new computer?

    Then go to start and search cmd, run as admin.

    Type:
    Code:
    sfc /scannow

    it said that there weren't any integrity violations

    Any more ideas? Maybe system restoration could fix this up...

    I would recommend a repair first.

    Which kind of repair do you mean?
    It's like formatting and start from scratch?

    EDIT>> messing with this: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Desktop\WallpaperStyle ;
    and this: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Desktop\WindowArrangementActive ;
    made the wallpaper assume other positions. However, it still can't be changed using the usual way.

    Why is the wizard unable to change the parameters? Does Norton prevents it from accessing the registry?

    EDIT2>> HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Desktop\WallpaperStyle does the thing alone. Couldn't figure out what the other one do...

    hmmmm... sounds promising, but HP made me the favor of locking up the disk in a separate partition on the hdd.

    I'll wait for the weekend to work this out. Anyway, thanks for helping!
