    Take Ownership problem

i try to change the task bar orb,
so i edit the explorer.exe, and then i right click the normal explorer.exe and click take ownership,
and when i try to rename the normal explorer a massage pops up that says this:
"you need permission to do this action,
you need permission from TrustedInstaller to apply changes for this file
    "
    the spelling is probably bad...
well that cuz my windows is Hebrew and i don't know the exact translation for the text.
any way can some 1 tell me what to do in order to fix this problem?
oohhh... my os is Windows 7 Ultimate Hebrew 32bit

When an application is installed there is a special group called "trusted installers" that does that. Youo can resolve this problem by adding your log on to the trusted installer group.

See this article: Take Ownership of file - Vista Forums

I wouldn't advice taking ownership of the entire Windows folder. I have seen reports from people that messed up their system doing that.

I know this is old, but I've looked at this problem till I'm blue in the face (yea, like an Avatar). When I TRY to take ownership of the C: drive I keep getting "ERROR APPLYING SECURITY" "an error occurred while applying security information to c:\hyberfil.sys (or other files) " the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process". I don't see it in task manager to close it.

When I try to change permissions I get "Error Applying Security" "an error occurred while applying security information to "C:\Windows Access is Denied.

Does anyone know how to get around this crap? I can't install software without access to C:\windows. I need to install .dll files and such in system32.

Yes it is a very old thread but I found something that might help you.

Your specs indicate that you do not have SP-1 installed.

    OS Windows 7 Professional 64 bit 6.1.7600
Windows 7 needs and wants SP-1 installed.
I would recommend completing Windows 7 Updates including SP-1.

After that if you are still having problems start a new thread stating your problem.
