changing system files for visual styles. UAC no show

I'm trying to apply the Macos X theme from deviantart.
I've run into an issue that the UAC doesn't show when trying to copy "imageres.dll" to the proper folder. The screen darkens for half a second and then goes away and doesn't copy. However it worked for another file I just copied into the same folder.
Is there a workaround for this?

edit: I think I really screwed it up somehow. Now UAC won't show up for anything like HWmonitor etc. and the window to change UAC settings opens and quickly closes.

'nother edit: Is it possible that I could just change the file names in ubuntu to avoid all huhbub in windows without issues?
