Do you mean an animated wallpaper running on the desktop? If so, there is three alternatives (only one of which is theoretically applicable to XP, heared, but not tried)
    1. If it is Win 7 ultimate, you me have Dreamscene as an windows update, its free.
    2. You may get Stardock deskscape (a paid software), that also does it.
    3. Use vlc media player and follow the tutorial : Have a Video Wallpaper as Desktop Background

Rather I should be pleased to have friends like you and a roof like our forum to enhance my knowledge. I never thought that a little patch can make it possible, when paid software are sold for the same purpose. They are resource hungry, too. Still now I am astonished. I applied it on my home premium, and just voila! Then why seven ultimate, why dskscape, why a difficult process using vlc, feeling like I am drunk, man.

It's magic! I can say no more about it.
