How do I get Windows Sidebar back?

    Hi all,

I have a few gadgets on my desktop. However I want to be able to dock them the way you could in vista - so that any open applications butt up against the dock, making your gadgets always visible.

I know you can do always on top per a gadget, but that seems to be flaky at best, plus I don't want the gadgets over to of other apps.

Is it possible to have a dock in win7 home?

    Thanks.

Hello foghat, welcome to Seven Forums!

This worked in the earlry days of Windows 7 but I haven't "played" with it for a while, it's worth a look; just create a System Restore Point - Create before you get started. Have a look at the tutorial at the link below and please keep us informed as to how you get on.

    No dock, none needed.

Just park the gadgets where you want them after dragging them off and setting them up and they will always open there.

    I do need/want a dock:
    1. I want my gadgets to always be viewable
    2. I don't want them to be on top of any open applications.

Thanks. Unfortunately I no longer have access to a vista machine, so doesn't look like this will work. Can't believe ms wouldn't leave the dock in as an option.

Sorry I forgot you'd need the files from Vista; like I said I haven't tried it for a while.

Do you know anyone with a Vista OS running?

I could probably find someone. Might be more of a hassle than it is worth.

    Thanks though.

You make gadgets stay on top the same way you did in Vista, EXCEPT you do it for EACH gadget, not all of them at once. Right click on a gadget, click Always on top. Also do a google search for more info.
