Windows Mediaplayer Taskband

Finally! True way to get Windows Mediaplayer Taskband (AKA, Taskbar Toolbar) back in WMP 12.

I found this whilst trawling on

How To
(I have tested this on Win7 Ultimate x86 and can confirm it works for both music and video.)

with Vishal's permission could a Mod or Admin please make it into a tutorial for our users, and host the required .dll file here?

NB. when it comes to registering the .dll file it's best to run an elevated command console and run the registration script from there. Don't forget to restart the WMP NSS!

I used the prior method he mentions about downloading the WMP 12 exe file. It worked ok. The exe file came with an unistaller but the author made mention not to use it. What the heck, worst it could do is make WMP not work which I felt could be fixed by removing WMP from the remove windows components screen and then re-adding it. I clicked his uninstaller and it actually worked. Next time WMP was launched, I got the initial WMP options screen to pop up for choosing my default options/settings. After doing that, I implemented the shorter method you mention. It's still not great but works for the most part. Visualizations don't work in it, and the always non transparent black color of the taskband is an eye sore. Anyone know what/which item/items would need to be changed in order to change that black color of the taskband toolbar? I read on another post that it was in wmploc.dll. I found an image that was similar to the taskband in wmploc, I changed the color of it, saved it and replaced the wmploc.dll only to still have the black one.
