Programs in startup folder won't start maximized

I cannot get the programs in my Startup folder to start maximized. What I have done is as follows:
    1) Right-clicked on the program name in the folder
    2) Clicked on Properties
    3) In the Shortcut tab selected Maximized from the drop-down menu next to Run
    4) Clicked on OK
But it doesn't work: the programs open minimized. Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong, please? ( I have Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1.)

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Found this link that may help you.

Also, if you open any progam just right-click the taskbar space at the top of the window and choose Maximize. Windows 7 should remember your choice next time you open the program.

You're very welcome Curt. Is your problem solved now?

Well, no actually. I've now got the reverse problem! I've just downloaded an update to BBC iPlayer Desktop and it will insist in opening maximized even though I set the properties to "Run minimized".
