agree - I'd like to see network animation too
Networx is a nice freebie that can be set up to show a moving graph in the icon, indicating activity and speed.
Ditto, +1, me too. (Even with a end-of-shelf-life dialup connection). The XP icons were an instant verification of connection status. A mouse hover also popped up a status window; now gone.
The Vista icons didn't work on the HP laptop, but do at work on a company desktop w/ a T1 connection.
I haven't seen mentioned the fact that a right click on the XP icon pops up both Disconnect and Status functions. W7 disconnect is rediculously clicky.
OT: I'm greatly missing the Connect To in the start menu...
I HATED them, disabling them was like the 1st thing I did after installing win xp, thank God they are no longer animated..
I have a small script that gives you the exact Internet status, send/receive, in Win 7/32-64 as is was/is in XP. I have been using it for 9 months and it has worked flawlessly.
If I can upload the 200K script (.exe) somewhere, everyone can have it for free. It is malware/adware free, bug and virus free.
Let me know.
