Changing Textures?
Hi.
Does anyone know how to change the textures; such as the texture on the Start Menu, Taskbar, etc.
I would imagine that it's located in explorer.exe somewhere? But I don't know where.

Not sure if there is anything built into Win 7 that allows you to change the texture, you might check in the tutorial section here on the forums.
There are third party applications which aid in the changing of just about anything; the one I use at present is Windowblinds, though there are others. Just do a Google, and you will be sure to find something out there in the wild. :)
Hi pal !
Are you trying to make themes? I know what's the program they use. its Ave's Windows7 Style Builder .
It will allow you to change many parts of the themes GUI
I will try that program and see if that is what I'm looking for, thanks for the tip. =)
Yes, Windows Blinds is what I am currently using. So I figured that "if Windows Blinds can do it, so can I!"
I just don't know how Windows Blinds is doing it. :P
-There must be a way to do it without using a program that does it for you. I bet Resource Hacker could help me work this out, somehow.
Sorry for interfering, pal!Phrosen;648733

But I think windowblinds is not the mainstream windows theming, though it is very much popular (I also used it with xp and vista). If you want to build windowblinds themes, use stardock skin studio.
And your last statement is almost true. Resource hacker can hack and change almost all parts of you system resources (look at my sig, I figured out the way to hack imageres.dll). As about startmenu and taskbar, they are situated in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes. Just put a third party theme there, and apply it, it will be changed. So you are to make a third party theme. That is why you need Style Builder
That seems to be like the kind of program that I am looking for.
However there's no trial version to try it out?
I can't afford to buy it just to test it.
If I understood it correctly, it can create .theme files that one simply puts in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes, then they can be applied by double-clicking on that file?
(Inside the .theme file is information about textures and whatnot.)
Am I right?
Sounds like just the thing I need, then.
I can't find it anywhere, though.
I think I found some "cracked" version yesterday, linked to some youtube clip..
But I don't trust such files, and I just want a trial version. :P
Would be great if someone could link me to a working, virus free, (preferably) legal version of the software.
