Windows 7-RC

Thanks, it works perfectly.

Do you know how I can use this technique to add an option to quickly and smartly "Show Hidden" or "Hide Hidden" files and folders?

I'm not sure how to do that. But i've found a source of reg files which can show/ hide hidden files/ folders with one click. If you're interested, the link's below.

When I right click the desktop and click on Restart Explorer a box pops up titled: Explorer.EXE.

In the box is an white X in a red circle followed by these words:

The version of this file in not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check you computer's sytem information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.

There's an OK click box at the bottom right.

I believe I've accurately followed you instructions but I can't rule out a mistake on my part. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I know this thread is older than trees but, because this nice Tutorial only works fully when you execute the Batch File directly and will not work fully via a shortcut or script, I'd like to share this which works in every manner :

@echo off

taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
start "" "C:\Windows\explorer.exe"
