    How to make invisible icons?

I use an invisible icon for my Recycle bin so my desktop is completely clean, the problem is I've tried multiple icons and all of them show up black upon a restart - upon changing the icons they are invisible again and the process repeats.

    What do I do?

    Give yourself a black background?

Found this tidbit, no idea if it works, not going to test it incase I can't get the icon back.

Ok, I tested it, it works. However, you have to switch the program Tweak UI with the program Ultimate Windows Tweaker because Tweak UI won't work in Windows 7 even if you run it in compatibility mode. Tutorial coming soon.

    Black backgrounds are lame :I

I was just on that page aswell. I've tried refreshing and it didn't work - plus that would be annoying to do every time. I've selected a new invisible icon and I'll see if it works when I get back - but I was using the same one as he showed there previously. I also downloaded an invisible icon from the interwebs and got the same result.

It should work ok as long as you follow the instructions.

    Rename Recycle Bin > Alt-0160 > Enter
    That should remove the name
Then Right Click > Properties > Customize > Choose an Invisible Icon.

I found out how to get it to work. I also believe using space instead of alt-0160 works - their guides are just outdated.

    Use the red circled one.

That would be too simple - LOL --- I hide all of mine in Rocket Dock (auto hidden) and in a multi folder toolbar (hidden by design)

Maybe he still drags stuff to it even though it's invisible? I don't know.

Either way, I wrote up the tutorial: https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...tml#post683206

haha fair enough, just seems like the OP is making things more difficult than they need to be if they just want recycle bin to go away....

Why not just pin it to the Windows Explorer icon?
