Icon Trouble

Hello all, I just recently themed my PC to look like a Mac, including changing the icons using Icon Packager. I didn't like the outcome so I decided to go back to my setup before, but I'm having some icon trouble. The Mac OS icons are still applied OVER my windows icons after applying the Windows default icons using icon packager. I've rebuilt my icon cache and that didn't work. I will provide a screen shot of what I am talking about. All help is appreciated. Thank you!

Hello Lewis, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You could do a system restore using a restore point dated before you made these changes to undo them.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Just did the system restore. It fixed my desktop icons, but my folders are still messed up. Will provide screenshot. Thanks for the help so far!

It sounds like it is using some sort of an overlay. If you can, I'd try removing all occurrences of the MacOS theme itself from %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Themes
and see if that helps.

Just deleted all occurrences of the Mac OS theme and the folders are still there. I have absolutely no idea what could be causing this.

You might see if runing a sfc /scannow command may be able to fix this if the custom theme modified any system files.

If not and you have a retail copy of Windows 7, then doing a repair install should be able to fix this for you.

Have you uninstalled iconpackeger before applying windows default icons back ? If no, just do it now ! But if it is already uninstalled, your live folders changed to the last used live folder set . Rebuilding icon cache or system restore cannot change it. Even reinstallation of iconpackager would not be helpful .

Do you have a system image backup prior to such changes ? If you have, just restore it. But if you dont have, there is two ways open to you first : Repair Install and second : Icons - Change Using Resource Hacker .

If you opt for repair install, after having all your setting done, first get a Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup , and then try to customize
