Change folder view in Windows 7

Hello. I was asking if there is a way to change the folders to look like they were in Windows XP. I mean only in Windows Explorer program to show the navigation pane, and in the others to show only the main pane, with the programs in that folder. I would be very grateful if you tell me how can I solve this request. Thank you for future replies!

Yours, Emilyan

Then is there a program that can changed it, a program that isn't included in Windows 7?

There are several third party explorer replacements that will be much more to your liking. Do a Google search on something like "Freeware Windows file manager" and take your pick.

Emilyan, be VERY careful about third-party add-ins.. And make sure to make a Backup of your registry first.. Make a separate backup of each HKey. I'm a professional, and I made the mistake of adding a third-party Explorer change without first making a backup, and the results were messy and arduous. It might be better to simply acquiesce to Windows 7's way, in this case. Either way, good luck.

But if I repair Windows(because I have Windows 7), if anything gets wrong, isn't better than making a backup for every HKEY?

Well, there's only 5 HKeys. When you do a full-reg backup, it seems that only 2 HKeys actually get exported (I think it's HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_USERS), so that's why I suggested doing all 5, individually.

If you're okay with doing a restore of Windows 7, then obviously that's not a problem. I just thought that if unexpected results do occur, it might be easier to try to localize the problem, and restore that. I guess I'm still a bit gun-shy from my recent stupid experience. ;-)
