Windows 7 - Create Desktop Folder without Navigation Pane

Create Desktop Folder without Navigation Pane

I need to create a Desktop folder on my new Win 7 Home Premium 64 Bit machine that, at its most simplest, would have just shortcut Icons. No preview pane, no menu bars, and especially, no Navigation pane.

I do know how to show/hide the Navigation pane. It appears that it is not possible to hide the Navigation pane in only one specific folder.

I do not want to change the view of Any Other Folders! I wish, for example, to have the Navigation pane remain visible in other folders.

It appears to me that Windows 7 locks us out of being able to completely customize individual folders.

Am I missing some basic understanding?

Are there third party apps to create a simple desktop folder with ability to select the view (i.e. Large Icons, Details)?

Thanks

Hello Win7Newbee, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Sorry, but it is not possible to do this with just one folder. The pane settings affect all folders in Windows Explorer.

Would a taskbar toolbar serve the purpose? (Right click on taskbar > Toolbars > New toolbar & choose whatever folder you want). The views are limited to large or small icons but otherwise it fits your needs.
