    Windows Colors - Text?

    Hey guys,

Well, I've been customizing my Windows for a bit and it went pretty well...
However, there's one thing I don't like about it:
The text of some menus appear to be the color that a disabled menu item would be.

    See pictures below for explanation:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2792692/1.png
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2792692/2.png

Well, as you can tell, it becomes quite annoying trying to figure out what things are allowable to click.

Does any one know how to get the text color to be different?

    Thanks,
    -Rebant

If it can be done then it would only be through a new visual style but I'm not sure that it's possible even then. As far as I know this effect is controlled by the system so whatever colour text you have the inactive sections will always be a dimmed version of it.

    Windows Colors - Text (2)?

    Hi,

Back again with the same question.
Maybe it wasn't explained well before, so I'm here to try and explain it again.

    First, this picture:

The problem is that not active menu buttons look darker when compared to the active ones.
In the picture, I cannot "Paste", yet I can "Show Desktop".

    This makes things difficult...
    Grr...

Well, trying to find out how to fix this, I take a screen shot of this:

It looks like this is the thing to change.
Now, where do I go to get this fixed...

    On to this:

I changed the, "Disabled Item" to another color (Red), but it did not work.

So, here I am, wondering how to change the text so it at least looks like the active menu things are in fact, active, and the disabled ones seem faint or at least another color.

    Thanks,
    -Rebant

It looks like a visual style error. Do you have a link for it?

It appears that the colors are reversed. They want a link to download the msstyle/visual style so they can check it out

I am guessing that the thing located in C:\Users\<My.User.Name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes
is the thing you want me to go to...

I opened it up with notepad and am dumping what I found...

The two colors you show in your screenshot are not in what you posted. The color is coming from the msstyles file. The msstyle file is located in a folder here
    YourDriveLetter:\Windows\Resources\Themes\Windows 7 poison.msstyles

It will be in a folder within the themes folder and it will have most likely the name of the msstyle/theme you are using with a file extension of .msstyles(nevermind, see above)

Just in case, in one of your screenshots you have Disabled circled in red, click the word disabled and see what it will list in the Item: part of that dialog

Also see what you have for Font: and the Color: just below the Item:

It should be what you are showing in the code you posted.
    Code:
    Menu=30 30 30

Switch to default Windows Aero style.
Copy the attached msstyle over the old one in %SystemRoot%\resources\Themes\Windows 7 poison.
    Reinstall theme.
